Violet Vendetta
An action-comedy short film made in 105-degree heat.Ted Hayden and I had wanted to make a film together for years.
Together, we created Violet Vendetta, a comedy about two dumb guys getting into a dumb situation. It was shot on location in Palm Desert in 105-degree heat, complete with a Jackie Chan-style golf-cart fight inspired by my time working in the golf cart industry.
The film stars Brandon Lee from Cobra Kai. We even got a cameo from Kevin Smith at the end.
The film got into festivals across the country, including Dances With Films in Los Angeles.
But the thing we were most proud of was getting into Fantasia in Montreal, North America’s largest genre-film festival. Quentin Tarantino called it “the most important and prestigious genre film festival on this continent.”
